From Mark Flint, an estimate of  total NEW trail completed this summer was about 1.5 miles and a hearty, “Thank you” from our Elfin-like Steward. Of course this distance does not include the grooming of various sections last year’s trail.

Thank you for the great summer! With a much respect to each one who came out and all of you, wil

The two experts and trail designers will confer later with others on the I10 issue.
83 AND Sahuarita photos follow.
Trench to divert runoff from trail and into wash.
We cut away part of bank leading from the first wash to re-angle the entrance
This small section is good walking AND a fun sport for bikers as it weaves ...
through a beautiful rock formation with the opportunity for a jump or two.
Grass swale as we enter the dry creek bed.
The Creek entrance ...,
Creek bed dry as a bone ... but lift up a large rock and it was damp underneath.

The major wash crossing was totally gone! We covered the entrance and exit to wash with branches.
New crossing; as an after thought, Jim and I, both concurred it needed more work.
Tom Kimmel, Lee Allen and Jim Ambrose at Blackwells’s Gate by V Bar Ranch ... we groomed trail from 83 (next)
Wil replaced Lee who took this photo ... we cleared major re-growth and intruding cacti on trail from 83 to here.

End of second day; Tom picking up trash - nails and staples, by roadside for re-use and re-cycling!
Wil returned Monday and ...
... installed stronger outflow armoring
and inflow on
both washes
and did more work on benching to sheet water flow onto trail
and off in a uniform fashion.
Final product until the next ‘gully washer!”
